Roman Shades
Roman shades can insulate your windows & be useful for cutting heating/cooling costs. We used to live in 70's ranch house w/ 2 huge picture windows & Mom made roman shades for them. Here's some info I found on how to make your own. They're also really classy looking as far as decorating goes.
Mom lined the shades w/ a fabric that was sort of a combo of aluminum-coated lining & blackout lining. I have no idea where to get it or what it's called, but there are some standard materials that might be easier to find... like bancrease, thermafoam & regular blackout lining.
